Hellmann's is one of the world's most iconic condiment brands, famous for its 'Real Mayonnaise.' The brand's history dates back to 1905 when Richard Hellmann, a German immigrant, began selling his wife's signature mayonnaise at his deli in New York City. By 1913, the popularity of the product led to the creation of the blue ribbon label that remains a trademark of the brand today.

In the Canadian market, Hellmann's is heavily marketed with a focus on local production. The packaging shown specifically features the 'Made in Canada' logo, as the company operates significant manufacturing facilities in Ontario to serve the domestic market. While the brand originated as a small deli business in the United States, it has grown into a global powerhouse available in dozens of countries.

Ownership of the brand has shifted through major corporate mergers over the decades. In 1932, it was acquired by Best Foods, which later merged with Corn Products Refining Co. to form CPC International. In 2000, the British multinational giant Unilever acquired Bestfoods for approximately $20.3 billion. Today, Unilever continues to manage Hellmann's as a core part of its nutrition portfolio, maintaining its position as the leading mayonnaise brand in North America and many European markets.
