Solo is one of Norway's most iconic and culturally significant soft drinks, first launched in 1934. The original recipe was a Spanish orange concentrate called 'Naranjina Solo,' brought to Norway by Torleif Gulliksrud. It quickly became a national staple, famously outselling global brands like Coca-Cola in the Norwegian market until the 1960s. Today, it remains a beloved symbol of Norwegian culture, particularly associated with Easter and outdoor activities.

While the brand was originally founded by Tønsberg Bryggeri, it is now managed through a unique consortium known as AS Solo. This organization is a joint venture between several Norwegian breweries, with the Carlsberg-owned Ringnes AS holding the majority share and acting as the primary distributor. Smaller independent Norwegian breweries like Mack and Oskar Sylte also maintain ownership stakes, ensuring the product is produced and distributed across various regions of Norway.
