Novalucol is a well-established antacid brand primarily sold in the Nordic markets. It was originally developed by the Swedish pharmaceutical company Pharmacia, which specialized in gastroenterology and other medical fields. The product is used to treat heartburn and acid reflux by neutralizing excess stomach acid using a combination of calcium and magnesium salts.
Over the years, the brand has changed hands through various pharmaceutical mergers and acquisitions. For a long period, it was part of the Meda AB portfolio, a Swedish specialty pharma company. Following the acquisition of Meda in 2016, the brand became part of Mylan. Today, Novalucol is owned by Viatris, a global healthcare company formed through the merger of Mylan and Upjohn (a former division of Pfizer). Despite the international ownership, the brand remains a staple in Swedish and Finnish pharmacies and continues to be associated with its Swedish pharmaceutical roots.
