Ovomaltine, commonly known as Ovaltine in many markets, is a heritage brand originally developed in Switzerland. It was created by Dr. Albert Wander in 1904 in Bern, Switzerland, where he combined the nutritional benefits of malt extract with cocoa and vitamins. This specific product shown in the image is manufactured in Neuenegg, Switzerland, by Wander AG, although specify that the cocoa used is sourced from outside Switzerland.
While the brand is a Swiss icon, its global ownership is divided. Since 2002, the worldwide rights to the brand—except for the United States, where it is owned by Nestlé—belong to Associated British Foods (ABF). The brand is managed under ABF's Twinings subsidiary, which also oversees Westmill Foods and other specialty brands. This product remains a staple of Swiss pantry culture and is widely exported across Europe.
