VARTA is a prestigious German brand with a deep historical legacy in the energy storage industry. Originally founded in 1887, the brand is synonymous with high-quality battery engineering. The 'Energy' line of alkaline batteries, visible in the image, is marketed for low-drain devices and highlights its German manufacturing heritage.

The brand's history is complex due to various corporate splits in the early 2000s. While VARTA AG continues to exist in Germany focusing on microbatteries and energy storage, the consumer battery business (represented by the image) was acquired by the American company Spectrum Brands and subsequently sold to Energizer Holdings, Inc. in 2019.

Today, VARTA consumer batteries are produced by VARTA Consumer Batteries GmbH & Co. KGaA, which is a subsidiary of the American multinational Energizer Holdings.
