Appelsientje is an iconic Dutch brand, originally introduced in 1973 by the dairy cooperative FrieslandCampina (then known as Riedel). It became famous for offering long-life fruit juices in cartons without the need for refrigeration. The Zwarte Bes (Blackcurrant) variety is part of their 100% pure juice line, enriched with vitamins.
Historically, the brand was a staple of the Dutch company Riedel, located in Ede. In 2017, FrieslandCampina sold Riedel to the Dutch investment firm Standard Investment. Since then, Riedel has operated as an independent company overseeing brands like Appelsientje, DubbelFrisss, and CoolBest. Production remains primarily centered in the Netherlands, maintaining its heritage as a classic Dutch household name.
