KiMs is Denmark's most iconic brand for chips and snacks. Originally founded in 1961 by Kim Hamann under Odense Marcipanfabrik, the brand has grown to become a household name. These peanuts are typically roasted and salted in Søndersø, Denmark, although the raw peanuts themselves are sourced internationally (often from the USA or South America).
Ownership of KiMs has evolved significantly over the decades. In 1991, the Norwegian conglomerate Orkla Group acquired the brand. Today, it operates under Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Danmark, which remains a subsidiary of the Oslo-based Orkla ASA. The brand represents a deep-seated tradition in Danish snack culture, maintaining a dominant market share through local production and consistent branding.
