Wilkin & Sons Limited, the famous producer of Tiptree preserves, began its journey in 1885 in the Essex village of Tiptree, England. The company was founded by the Wilkin family, who had been farming the same land for generations. Their focus was on utilizing premium fruits grown on their own estate to ensure the highest quality jams and marmalades, a tradition that continues to define the brand today.
To this day, Tiptree products are predominantly manufactured in the United Kingdom at the original Tiptree site. The brand is renowned for its traditional small-batch cooking methods using copper-bottomed pans. As a recipient of a Royal Warrant from the British Monarchy, the products are internationally recognized as a hallmark of British culinary export, reaching over sixty countries worldwide.
Tiptree remains one of the few venerable British food brands that has successfully maintained its independence. The company is largely owned by the Wilkin family and its employees through an Employee Benefit Trust. This structure has allowed the brand to resist acquisition by larger multinational conglomerates, ensuring its focus remains on quality and heritage rather than corporate scaling.
