Hoover is one of the most iconic names in American floorcare, having pioneered early vacuum cleaner technology in the early 20th century. Originally founded in Ohio, the brand became so synonymous with vacuuming that the name entered the common lexicon as a verb in several English-speaking countries.
Today, the ownership of the Hoover brand is split geographically. In North America, the brand is owned by the Hong Kong-based Techtronic Industries (TTI), a global leader in power tools and floorcare. In Europe and several other international markets, the rights to the Hoover brand belong to the Candy Group, which was acquired by the Chinese multinational Haier Group. In the Australian market, Hoover products are typically part of the TTI portfolio.
While the brand maintains its American engineering heritage, physical manufacturing has largely moved to global production hubs. Most modern Hoover vacuum cleaners, including the ONEPWR cordless line, are manufactured in China to take advantage of sophisticated electronics supply chains, though the ultimate corporate oversight rests with TTI headquartered in Hong Kong.
