St. Bernardus Beer

St. Bernardus is a world-renowned Belgian brewery located in the village of Watou. The history of the brand is uniquely intertwined with the Trappist Abbey of Westvleteren. Traditionally, between 1946 and 1992, the brewery produced beers under license for the monks of Westvleteren. Since the license ended, the brewery has operated independently, producing its high-quality ales under the St. Bernardus brand name.

The production remains centralized in Watou, Belgium, adhering to traditional brewing methods and using the original yeast strains from the Trappist monks. The brand is celebrated for its authentic Belgian Abbey styles, most notably the Abt 12, which is frequently cited as one of the best beers in the world. Today, the brewery remains a family-owned entity, maintaining its commitment to craftsmanship and local heritage.
