Belkin is a prominent American manufacturer of consumer electronics and networking hardware, widely recognized for its diverse range of connectivity solutions and smart home products. Founded in 1983 in Hawthorne, California, by Chet Pipkin, the company initially gained fame for producing computer cables and peripherals before expanding into wireless networking routers and power protection devices.

In 2012, Belkin launched the Wemo brand, marking its significant entry into the Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home automation market. The Wemo line, which includes the Smart LED Bulbs, allows users to control home appliances and lighting remotely via mobile applications. While the brand was conceived and engineered in the United States, manufacturing operations for these electronic components are primarily outsourced to facilities in China and other Southeast Asian electronics hubs to leverage large-scale production capabilities.

A major shift in ownership occurred in 2018 when Belkin International, including its Wemo, Linksys, and Phyn brands, was acquired by Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT), a subsidiary of the Taiwanese multinational electronics giant Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. This acquisition integrated Belkin's design and brand recognition with Foxconn's massive global manufacturing infrastructure. Today, Belkin remains headquartered in California, operating as a distinct brand under the broader Foxconn corporate umbrella.
