The OnePlus One was the debut smartphone from OnePlus, released in 2014 to define the 'flagship killer' market. The brand was founded in Shenzhen, China, by Pete Lau and Carl Pei. From its inception, the product was manufactured in China, utilizing the production capabilities and supply chain of its parent ecosystem.
While OnePlus started as a boutique brand with a cult following, it has since become a major global player. The brand is a subsidiary of OPPO, and both are part of the massive BBK Electronics conglomerate. In recent years, OnePlus and OPPO have merged their Research & Development and hardware teams more closely to streamline operations while maintaining the OnePlus brand identity for international markets.
