The brand is renowned for inventing many of the staples of the modern wardrobe, including the first luxury cotton t-shirts and the introduction of the boxer short to the UK in 1947. Sunspel gained global cinematic fame for its Riviera Polo Shirt, which was tailored for Daniel Craig's James Bond in Casino Royale.

While the company operates its own historic factory in Long Eaton, England, where it continues to manufacture its most iconic items using Sea Island cotton, it also utilizes specialist workshops in Portugal and Turkey for certain collections. The brand represents a commitment to high-quality natural fibers and craft-based manufacturing. In 2005, the brand was acquired by Nicholas Brooke and Dominic Hazlehurst, who have focused on expanding its global footprint while maintaining its British craftsmanship roots and quiet luxury aesthetic.
