Moccona is a historic coffee brand with roots dating back to 1753 in Joure, Netherlands. It was originally established by Egbert Douwes as a small grocery shop specializing in coffee, tea, and tobacco, which eventually evolved into the renowned Douwe Egberts company. Over centuries, the brand became synonymous with premium European coffee culture, particularly noted for its distinctive glass jars and smooth freeze-dried blends.
Today, Moccona is a major global player in the instant coffee market. While its heritage is Dutch, the manufacturing for the Southeast Asian market, as seen in the Thai-labeled packaging in the image, is heavily centered in Thailand. The brand has transitioned through several corporate ownership structures, including under Sara Lee and later D.E Master Blenders 1753. Since 2015, Moccona has been a core brand under JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands, which continues to manage its global distribution and production and is the ultimate owner.
