Schweppes is one of the world's oldest soft drink brands, originally founded in 1783 by Johann Jacob Schweppe in Geneva, Switzerland. He developed the first practical process for manufacturing carbonated mineral water based on the discoveries of Joseph Priestley. The brand eventually moved its headquarters to London, England, where it gained significant popularity and was granted a royal warrant.
Today, the ownership of Schweppes is fragmented across various global regions. In many markets, including Europe and Africa, the brand is owned by Suntory Global Spirits (formerly Suntory Beverage & Food), a major Japanese beverage company. In North America and several other territories, the brand is owned by Keurig Dr Pepper. Additionally, the The Coca-Cola Company owns the brand in many other international markets such as Australia and various parts of Asia-Pacific. The packaging shown, which features French and Dutch text, indicates production and distribution within the European market handled by the Suntory group.
