Founded in 2014 by Carsten Waldeck, the company provides 'SHIFTPHONES' that are designed to be easily repaired by the end-user, featuring a modular architecture that reduces electronic waste and extends the product's lifespan.

While the brand is deeply rooted in Falkenberg, Germany, where development, design, and management take place, the actual manufacturing is carried out in China. Unlike many tech giants, SHIFT ensures ethical production by working with small, audited manufacturing facilities and maintaining a deposit system for their devices to ensure proper recycling and refurbishing at the end of life. The brand remains independently owned by its founding family and continues to be a pioneer in the 'fair-tech' movement alongside competitors like Fairphone.
