Creon is a global pharmaceutical brand utilized for Pancreatic Enzyme Replacement Therapy (PERT). It was originally developed in Germany, a country with a long-standing history in medical and pharmaceutical innovation. The brand has been a cornerstone for treating conditions like pancreatic insufficiency for decades.
The Creon brand has undergone several ownership transitions through major pharmaceutical mergers and acquisitions. Originally associated with Kali-Chemie and later Solvay Pharmaceuticals, it was eventually acquired by the multinational corporation Abbott. In 2015, Abbott spun off its established pharmaceuticals business into Viatris through a series of complex deals involving Mylan. Today, Creon is owned and managed by Viatris, a global healthcare company headquartered in the United States, which continues to distribute the product to patients worldwide.
