Liberté Kéfir is a prominent dairy product in Canada, known for its focus on natural ingredients and probiotic culture. The brand originated in Montreal in 1936, founded by the Kaporovsky family who established a dairy processing plant to serve the local community. Over the decades, Liberté expanded its portfolio from cream and yogurt to include kefir, gaining a reputation for premium artisanal-style dairy products.

While the brand has deep Quebeçois roots, its ownership has transitioned to global dairy giants. General Mills acquired Liberté in 2011, but in 2021, an agreement was reached for the brand to be reacquired by the French cooperative Yoplait (Sodiaal), while General Mills retained the Canadian operations under a licensing agreement. Despite these corporate shifts, Liberté products sold in Canada continue to be manufactured locally using 100% Canadian milk, maintaining their domestic production heritage.
