Ron Barceló is a prestigious Dominican rum brand founded in 1930 by Julián Barceló, a Spanish entrepreneur who traveled to Santo Domingo with the dream of creating the best rum in the world. The brand quickly became a staple of Dominican culture and a major player in the international spirits market. It is primarily manufactured in the Dominican Republic, specifically in San Pedro de Macorís, using 100% sugar cane juice from its own plantations.
Today, the brand is owned by Ron Barceló S.R.L., following a significant restructuring in 2006 where a group of Spanish entrepreneurs (the García family) and the Barceló family formalized their long-standing partnership. The company is known for its commitment to sustainability, being the first rum in the world to be certified Carbon Neutral. It remains one of the most exported rum brands globally, particularly popular in Spain and across Europe.
