Coppo is one of the oldest and most prestigious family-run wineries in Italy, founded in 1892 in Canelli, Piedmont. The winery is world-renowned for its 'Underground Cathedrals,' a series of historical cellars designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, where their wines are aged under ideal conditions of temperature and humidity.
Historically rooted in the production of Moscato and Barbera, Coppo played a pivotal role in the 'Barbera revolution,' elevating this grape from a simple table wine to a complex, internationally acclaimed wine like the 'Pomorosso.' They also produce high-quality Metodo Classico sparkling wines and Chardonnay. While the brand remains deeply tied to its historical headquarters in Canelli, it entered a new chapter of corporate leadership in recent years.
In 2021, the majority of the Coppo winery was acquired by the Lanciola group, owned by the Diana family, who also manage several prestigious estates across Italy. Despite this change in ultimate ownership, the Coppo family remains involved in the management and winemaking process to ensure the preservation of the brand's heritage, artisanal quality, and unique Piedmontese identity.
