Champagne Ayala is one of the oldest and most established Champagne houses, located in Aÿ, France. Founded in 1860 by Edmond de Ayala, a Colombian-born visionary who married into a family with extensive vineyard holdings, the brand quickly became a pioneer in the production of low-dosage, drier styles of champagne. This commitment to purity and elegance made it a favorite among European royalty throughout the early 20th century.
Today, the brand continues to focus on a fresh, Chardonnay-focused house style. While it has passed through various owners over the decades—including a period of management by the Ducellier family—it was acquired in 2005 by the family-owned Bollinger group (Société Jacques Bollinger). Under this ownership, Ayala has maintained its boutique identity as a 'Grand Marque' while benefiting from significant investments in its production facilities and vineyard sourcing within the Champagne region of France.
