Flora is a prominent brand of margarine and plant-based spreads with a long history in the United Kingdom and internationally. Originally launched by Unilever in the 1960s as a heart-healthy alternative to butter, it became famous for its sunflower oil-based formula. The 'Flora Lighter' variant shown in the image is a reduced-fat version of the classic spread, designed for health-conscious consumers.

In 2018, Unilever sold its entire spreads division, including Flora, to the private equity firm KKR. This led to the formation of Upfield, which now operates as the world's largest plant-based consumer products company. Under Upfield's ownership, Flora has transitioned to being 100% plant-based and has updated its packaging and branding to emphasize natural ingredients and sustainability.

Today, Flora products are manufactured in various locations across Europe to serve different regional markets. For the UK market, production primarily takes place in dedicated facilities in the United Kingdom. Upfield remains the ultimate owner, with its global headquarters located in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
