Wijko Satésaus is widely regarded as the most popular peanut sauce in the Netherlands. The brand was originally established in 1958 in Wijhe, from which the name 'Wijko' is derived (Wijhe-Korteweg). It focuses on high-quality peanut-based sauces that are staple accompaniments for fries and BBQ in Dutch cuisine.
Today, the brand is owned by the American multi-national food corporation Kraft Heinz. While it has international ownership, the production remains deeply rooted in the Netherlands, specifically produced at facilities in Elst. The brand is managed under the Benelux division of Kraft Heinz, maintaining its local status as the market leader in the satay sauce category.
