Hennessy is the world's leading cognac producer, originally founded in 1765 by Richard Hennessy, an Irish Jacobite military officer who served in the army of King Louis XV. Based in Cognac, France, the house has a long history of innovation, having pioneered the V.S.O.P. and X.O. grading systems that are now industry standards. The brand's expertise is further highlighted by the Fillioux family, who have served as Master Blenders for eight generations.

Today, Hennessy is a cornerstone of the global luxury market. In 1971, the company merged with Moët & Chandon to form Moët Hennessy, which later merged with Louis Vuitton in 1987 to create LVMH. Hennessy is currently owned by Moët Hennessy, a joint venture where LVMH holds a 66% majority stake and the British beverage giant Diageo holds the remaining 34%. All Hennessy cognac is produced and bottled in the Charente region of France to meet the strict Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) requirements.
