JavaScript (JS) is a lightweight, interpreted, or just-in-time compiled programming language with first-class functions. While it is most well-known as the scripting language for Web pages, many non-browser environments also use it, such as Node.js and Apache CouchDB.

The JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) format was originally popularized by Douglas Crockford in the early 2000s. It is derived from the JavaScript programming language but is a language-independent data format. It is now a standard used globally for serializing and transmitting structured data over network connections, particularly between a server and a web application.

While JavaScript and JSON aren't 'manufactured' in a traditional physical sense, their development and standardization are managed by Ecma International through the TC39 committee. This collaborative effort involves contributions from engineers and companies located all over the world, making it a truly global digital product with no single point of origin or manufacturing.
