GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)

GIMP, or the GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a premier free and open-source raster graphics editor used for image retouching, composition, and authoring. It was originally started in 1995 by Spencer Kimball and Peter Mattis as a project at the University of California, Berkeley.
