Prince biscuits, widely recognized by the crown logo and the prince character, originated in Belgium in 1889, created by Edward De Beukelaer. Originally known as 'Prince de Beukelaer', the brand was named in honor of the Prince of Belgium. Over the decades, the biscuit became a staple across Europe, particularly known for its chocolate cream-filled sandwich design.
Today, the brand is owned by Mondelēz International, which acquired it through the purchase of Danone's biscuit division in 2007. While the brand has Belgian roots, it is manufactured in several European countries, including major production facilities in France (notably Cestas) and Spain. It remains one of Europe's top-selling biscuit brands under the snack giant's global portfolio.
