Naked & Famous Denim is a Canadian brand founded in 2008 by Brandon Svarc. The brand is renowned in the global fashion industry for its "no-nonsense" approach to high-quality denim, famously refusing to use celebrity endorsements or artificial aging processes. Instead, they focus on sourcing unique, high-end fabrics from Japan and manufacturing the finished garments in their own factory in Canada.
The brand's name and its pop-art-inspired "Tragic Blonde" logo are a satirical take on celebrity culture and consumerism. While the textiles are imported from Japan—home to the world's most prestigious denim mills—every pair of jeans is cut and sewn in Montreal. This blend of Japanese material quality and North American craftsmanship has made them a staple in the raw denim community.
Ownership has remained private and independent since its inception. The brand is managed under the umbrella of its parent company, which also oversees other niche labels like Unbranded Brand. This independence allows Naked & Famous to experiment with eccentric fabrics, such as Kevlar-infused denim, glow-in-the-dark jeans, and scratch-and-sniff raspberry-scented denim.
