Häagen-Dazs is a renowned premium ice cream brand that, despite its Danish-sounding name, was actually founded in the Bronx, New York, in 1961. The brand was created by Reuben and Rose Mattus with the intention of projecting an image of Old World craftsmanship and high-quality ingredients.

Today, the brand operates under a unique ownership structure. While General Mills owns the brand globally, the rights to produce and market Häagen-Dazs in the United States and Canada are licensed to Froneri, a joint venture between Nestlé and R&R Ice Cream. For the Australian and Asian markets (as indicated by the 'arl.org.au' recycling label in the image), the product is primarily manufactured at the General Mills facility in Tilloy-lès-Mofflaines, France, which exports to over 80 countries.
