PIn test, which stands for Pure Interaction test, is a specialized non-parametric bioinformatics software designed for detecting pure interaction effects in case-control Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS). Unlike traditional methods that may be biased by dominant single-locus or additive effects, this tool identifies genetic structural differences in Linkage Disequilibrium (LD) specifically between cases and controls. Developed to handle complex genetic calculations, the software supports multiple modes including exhaustive pairwise testing and specific SNP-set interactions, catering to researchers in the fields of genomics and computational biology.

The tool was originally developed by researchers at the Ruislab (Rui Chen's Lab), a specialized academic research group focused on statistical genetics and bioinformatics. While the software is distributed globally via open-source platforms like GitHub, its academic and structural roots are firmly established within the Chinese research ecosystem. As an open-source research project, there is no corporate 'ultimate owner' in the traditional commercial sense; instead, it is maintained by the original academic creators for the benefit of the scientific community. It is compatible with both Windows and Linux environments, natively supporting standard genomic data formats like PLINK.
