Method is a brand of household cleaning and personal care products founded in 2000 in San Francisco, California, by Adam Lowry and Eric Ryan. Known for its stylish packaging and focus on environmentally friendly ingredients, Method quickly became a disruptor in the traditional cleaning market. The Waterfall (Waterval) liquid hand soap is one of their flagship products, featuring a plant-based formula.
In 2012, Method was acquired by the Belgian company Ecover, forming a large green cleaning conglomerate. This entity was subsequently acquired in 2017 by S. C. Johnson & Son, a global leader in household consumer products. Today, Method products sold in the European market are primarily manufactured in the 'Southside Soapbox' factory in Chicago for the US market and in Malle, Belgium, for the European market to minimize shipping distance and environmental impact. The brand remains under the ultimate ownership of S. C. Johnson, providing a wide distribution network while maintaining Method's distinct branding and sustainability focus.
