Bango Kecap Manis

Bango (originally known as Kecap Bango) is a premium Indonesian brand of sweet soy sauce (kecap manis) that has become a staple in Southeast Asian cuisine. The brand was founded in 1928 by Tjoa Pit Boen in Tangerang, Indonesia. Its name, which means 'stork', was chosen to represent a product that could 'fly high' and represent quality across the region. The traditional production process utilizes high-quality 'Malika' black soybeans, which contribute to its distinctive thick consistency and rich flavor profile.

In 1992, the brand was acquired by Unilever, which helped modernize its production and significantly expanded its distribution networks both within Indonesia and internationally. Today, Bango remains one of the most recognizable brands under the Unilever portfolio in the food segment. While it is primarily manufactured in Indonesia to maintain its authentic flavor and quality standards, it is exported globally to cater to the Indonesian diaspora and international food enthusiasts.
