SteelSeries is a leading brand in the competitive gaming and esports industry, founded in Denmark in 2001. The brand gained international acclaim for its high-performance gaming peripherals, including its Arctis line of headsets, which are recognized for their distinct minimalist design, comfort, and high-quality audio drivers.
While the brand's research, engineering, and design are primarily centered in Denmark and the United States, the physical manufacturing of their hardware components, including the headset shown, is conducted in China to benefit from specialized electronics supply chains and large-scale assembly facilities.
In late 2021, the brand's ownership transitioned when GN Store Nord, a prominent Danish conglomerate specializing in hearing aids and professional headsets (Jabara), acquired SteelSeries for approximately $1.25 billion. This acquisition integrated SteelSeries into GN's extensive audio portfolio, aimed at capturing a larger share of the professional and enthusiast gaming market globally. Today, SteelSeries continues to operate as an independent brand under the GN Group umbrella.
