Douwe Egberts is a historic Dutch coffee brand founded in 1753 in Joure, Netherlands, by Egbert Douwes. His son, Douwe Egberts, later expanded the company into a national powerhouse and a household name across Europe. The Aroma Rood range is the brand's most iconic blend, known for its balanced roasting profile.

While the brand has humble origins as a small grocery store, it evolved through numerous corporate mergers, including a long period of ownership by the American firm Sara Lee. Today, it is part of JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea leader. Most production for the Dutch market still takes place at their historic roasting facility in Utrecht, maintaining its local heritage despite being a global brand.
