Beemster is a renowned Dutch cheese brand originating from the Beemster Polder, a UNESCO World Heritage site in North Holland. Produced by the cooperative CONO Kaasmakers since its inception in 1901, the brand is celebrated for its traditional artisanal methods and the use of rich meadow milk from cows grazing on local pastures. The Belegen (matured) variety shown is specifically known for its smooth, full-flavored profile achieved through natural aging.
Today, Beemster remains under the ownership of CONO Kaasmakers, an independent cooperative of dairy farmers located in Westbeemster. This structure ensures that the production process—from the sustainable management of the pastures to the slow ripening of the cheese wheels—stays rooted in the original North Holland region, maintaining the high quality and authentic taste that has earned the brand international recognition including its status as a Purveyor to the Royal Court of the Netherlands.
