Glen Scotia is one of the last remaining distilleries in Campbeltown, once known as the 'whisky capital of the world'. Established in 1832 by Stewart, Galbraith & Co., the distillery has survived numerous closures and ownership changes throughout the 20th century. This Double Cask expression is matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before being finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, reflecting the classic Campbeltown style of being rich and spicy.
Today, Glen Scotia is owned by the Loch Lomond Group, which was acquired by the Chinese private equity firm Hillhouse Capital Management in 2019. Despite the global ownership, the production remains strictly artisanal and rooted in its historic location in Scotland, maintaining the heritage of the Campbeltown region.
