Côte d'Or is one of the most iconic Belgian chocolate brands, founded in 1883 by Charles Neuhaus. Its name is inspired by the Gold Coast (now Ghana), the source of many cocoa beans used in its production. The brand is instantly recognizable by its elephant logo, symbolizing strength and its African origins. For over a century, Côte d'Or has been synonymous with premium quality Belgian chocolate.

Today, the brand is part of the global snacks giant Mondelēz International. While its spiritual and original home is Belgium—with a major factory in Halle producing many of its specialized items—modern production has been distributed across other European facilities, notably in Poland, to meet international demand. Mondelēz International, headquartered in the United States, manages Côte d'Or as one of its core premium chocolate brands, focusing on sustainability through initiatives like the Cocoa Life program visible on the packaging.
