Bolletje is one of the most iconic Dutch bakery brands, founded in 1867 by Gerardus Johannes ter Beek in Almelo. The brand became famous for its 'beschuit' (rusks) and has since expanded into a wide variety of bakery snacks, including these high-seed crackers. To this day, the majority of Bolletje products are produced in the Netherlands at their facilities in Almelo and Heerde.
While Bolletje was a family-owned Dutch company for over a century, it was acquired by the German Borggreve Group in 2013. This acquisition allowed the brand to expand its reach while maintaining its traditional Dutch identity. The company remains a leader in the Dutch bakery market, focusing on healthy innovations like the 'zaden en pitten' line which utilizes high percentages of seeds and kernels for nutritional value.
