Smint is a well-known brand of breath fresheners and sugar-free mints, instantly recognizable by its signature triangular shape. The brand was originally launched in Spain in 1994 by the Chupa Chups company, targeting adult consumers who wanted a high-quality, sugar-free alternative to traditional sweets. The product shown, Smint Sours, is a fruit-flavored variation of their classic mint range.
Today, Smint is owned by the global confectionery giant Perfetti Van Melle. This Dutch-Italian multinational was formed in 2001 when the Italian group Perfetti acquired the Dutch company Van Melle, which had previously acquired the Chupa Chups brand (and Smint) in 2006. Perfetti Van Melle maintains a strong presence in the Netherlands through its Benelux division based in Breda. While the brand has Spanish roots and Dutch-Italian ownership, its products are manufactured in various facilities across Europe to meet global demand.
