De Ruijter is an iconic Dutch brand, fundamentally intertwined with the tradition of 'hagelslag' (chocolate sprinkles) in the Netherlands. Founded in 1860 by Cornelis Willem de Ruijter in Baarn, the brand earned a royal designation that remains a key part of its prestige today. The product shown combines traditional milk chocolate sprinkles with the popular spiced flavor of speculoos, catering to modern Dutch breakfast preferences.
While the brand maintains its historical identity as a quintessentially Dutch institution, its corporate ownership has evolved significantly. De Ruijter was previously part of the CSM company before being acquired by Heinz. Following the massive merger between Kraft and Heinz in 2015, the brand is now under the ultimate ownership of The Kraft Heinz Company. Most production for the local market continues to be centered in the Netherlands, ensuring the traditional quality associated with the Royal De Ruijter label.
