Lipton is one of the world's most iconic tea brands, originally founded in Scotland by Sir Thomas Lipton in the late 19th century. The brand became synonymous with accessible, high-quality tea and was instrumental in popularizing tea bags. For decades, the brand was a cornerstone of Unilever's food and beverage portfolio.
In recent years, the ownership of Lipton has changed through a major corporate carve-out. In 2022, Unilever sold its tea division, Ekaterra, which included Lipton, to CVC Capital Partners. The brand now operates under the entity known as LIPTON Teas and Infusions. Manufacturing occurs globally, with major processing plants in locations like Jebel Ali in the UAE and Katowice in Poland, sourcing tea leaves from plantations in Kenya and beyond.
