Manufacturing remains centered in the Netherlands, with production facilities in Almelo and Heerde ensuring the traditional quality associated with the brand. The company is well-known for its distinctive marketing, particularly its long-standing slogan 'Ik wil Bolletje!' which has become a part of Dutch cultural heritage.

In terms of ownership, Bolletje was acquired in 2013 by the German family-owned company Borggreve. This acquisition allowed the brand to maintain its Dutch identity and production base while benefiting from the logistical and financial scale of a larger European confectionery group. As of 2026, it continues to operate as a prominent subsidiary under the Borggreve umbrella, maintaining its status as a market leader in the Dutch rusk and breakfast biscuit segment.
