Fairy Original washing-up liquid

Fairy is a legendary brand in the household cleaning sector, famously known for its long-lasting suds and iconic green liquid. The brand was originally launched in the United Kingdom in 1898 by Thomas Hedley & Co., a soap manufacturing company based in Newcastle upon Tyne.

Ownership of the brand transitioned to the American multinational Procter & Gamble (P&G) after they acquired Thomas Hedley & Co. in 1930. This acquisition marked P&G's first overseas subsidiary and served as a major step in the company's global expansion. Today, Fairy is a flagship global brand for P&G, sold under various regional names such as Dawn in North America and Yes or Dreft in other European markets.

While Fairy is managed as a global brand from P&G's headquarters in the United States, major manufacturing for the UK and Irish markets continues to take place within the United Kingdom. A primary production facility is located at the Procter & Gamble plant in West Thurrock, Essex, which has been producing the liquid since the mid-20th century.
