Rear Window is a 1954 American mystery thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock and written by John Michael Hayes, based on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short story 'It Had to Be Murder.' The film was originally produced by Patron Inc., a company formed by Hitchcock and James Stewart, and released through Paramount Pictures. It is widely considered one of Hitchcock's best works.
While the original film and its promotional materials were created in the United States, movie posters like the one in the image are currently reproduced and printed by various licensed vendors and gift shops worldwide. They serve as popular home decor items for cinema enthusiasts.
Ownership of the film has transitioned over the decades. In the late 1960s, the rights peaked back to Hitchcock and were later acquired by Universal Pictures (a subsidiary of NBCUniversal). Today, the brand and film intellectual property are owned by Comcast through its NBCUniversal division.
