All Tabasco brand products are manufactured by the McIlhenny Company on Avery Island, Louisiana. The brand's origin dates back to 1868 when Edmund McIlhenny first produced the sauce using peppers grown on the island. The production process still follows traditional methods, including aging the pepper mash in white oak barrels for up to three years.

The McIlhenny Company remains a family-owned business, with ownership passed down through generations. It is currently in its fifth and sixth generations of family management, making it a rare example of a globally recognized brand that has maintained private family ownership for over 150 years.
