Bose audio and video equipment

Bose was founded in 1964 by Dr. Amar Bose, a professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The brand achieved global recognition for its high-performance noise-canceling headphones, home audio systems, and professional sound solutions. Historically, Bose was a privately held company mostly owned by MIT through non-voting shares donated by Dr. Bose.

In early 2023, a significant shift occurred in the brand's professional segment. Bose Corporation sold its Bose Professional division to Transom Capital Group, an a private equity firm. Following this divestiture, the professional audio segment operates under the name Bose Professional, while Bose Corporation continues to focus on consumer audio products like headphones and speakers. While many components are engineered in the United States, manufacturing is spread across multiple locations including Mexico, China, and Malaysia.
