Rodenbach Grand Cru is a world-renowned Flanders Red Ale, a quintessential example of the Belgian sour ale tradition. It is brewed by Brouwerij Rodenbach in Roeselare, Belgium. The product is unique due to its maturation process, where a blend of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 beer aged for two years in large oak barrels (foeders) results in its complex, vinous character and characteristic acidity.
The Rodenbach brewery was established in 1821 by the Rodenbach family. Over the centuries, it became a symbol of Belgian brewing heritage. In 1998, the brewery was acquired by Palm Breweries. Following subsequent industry consolidations, it is now owned by Swinkels Family Brewers, a prominent independent family-owned brewing group based in the Netherlands.
