Geschiedenis Magazine

Geschiedenis Magazine is a prominent Dutch publication dedicated to popular history, originally established in 1966 under the title Spiegel Historiael. The magazine was founded by the publisher Fibula-Van Dishoeck with the mission of making historical research accessible to a broad, non-specialist audience through a journalistic and engaging style. Over the decades, it has featured contributions from eminent Dutch and Belgian historians, ensuring high academic standards despite its popular format.

In 2006, the publication was rebranded and modernized as Geschiedenis Magazine. The magazine is currently published by VirtuMedia, a specialized Dutch publisher based in Zeist. While its editorial office has historically been centered in Amsterdam, the magazine maintains a strong focus on Dutch and Belgian history and is produced and printed within the Netherlands for the Benelux market.
