Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) is a prestigious British audio brand founded in 1966 by John Bowers in Worthing, West Sussex. Renowned for high-end loudspeakers and professional studio monitoring equipment, the brand expanded into the true wireless earbud market with the Pi series. While the engineering and acoustic design primarily originate from the United Kingdom, manufacturing of their consumer electronics line, including most headphones, is carried out in China.
The brand has undergone significant ownership changes in recent years. In 2016, it was acquired by Silicon Valley startup EVA Automation. Subsquently, in 2020, Sound United LLC acquired Bowers & Wilkins, integrating it into a portfolio of premium audio brands. Most recently, in 2022, Sound United was acquired by Masimo Corporation, a global medical technology company based in the United States, which remains the ultimate owner company as of 2024.
