DC Shoes is a cornerstone brand in the skateboarding and action sports industry, founded in 1994 by Ken Block and Damon Way in Vista, California. Originally specialized in performance skateboarding footwear, the brand quickly expanded into a global lifestyle label, becoming synonymous with early 2000s street culture and extreme sports sponsorship.
The manufacturing of DC Shoes footwear is conducted across multiple countries, primarily in Asia, including Vietnam, China, and Indonesia. This global production network allows the brand to utilize specialized footwear facilities capable of handling the technical requirements of skate shoes, such as specialized rubber outsoles and heavy-duty stitching.
While the brand was acquired by Quiksilver in 2004, its ownership has undergone significant changes in recent years. Following the bankruptcy and restructuring of Quiksilver (renamed Boardriders), the brand was eventually acquired by Authentic Brands Group (ABG) in 2023. Under ABG's ownership, the brand's presence continues to expand through strategic licensing and global distribution partnerships.
